IOM released the second displacement analysis of third-country nationals (TCNs) who left Ukraine and arrived in Slovakia and those who exited the country towards Ukraine. The second report covers the period of 24 February – 23 June 2022 (including).

Top findings of the report
Entries from Ukraine to Slovakia
Between 24 February and 23 June 2022, a total of 541,726 people entered Slovakia from Ukraine. Out of them, 30,845 were TCNs of 149 different nationalities (6 per cent), in addition to 501,059 Ukrainian nationals (92 per cent) and 9,882 Slovak nationals (2 per cent).
The report shows that almost 50 per cent of the entries of TCNs from Ukraine to Slovakia occurred before 10 March, with a peak of entries (8,391) between 27 February and 2 March 2022.
The top 10 nationalities by number of entries of TCNs in Slovakia so far were Hungary (24 per cent), Czechia, Morocco, Germany, India, Russian Federation, Nigeria, Poland, United States and China (2 per cent).
More than a half of the individuals who entered Slovakia were adult women (284,154), followed by 29 percent of children (79,020 girls and 78,814 boys) and 19 percent of men (99,738).
Exits from Slovakia to Ukraine
During the reporting period, 18,434 TCNs of 96 different nationalities left Slovakia toward Ukraine, in addition to 260,369 Ukrainian and 9,818 Slovak nationals.
Asylum Applications
As of 23 June 2022, third-country nationals represented 23 per cent of the total of 190 asylum applications in connection with the conflict in Ukraine. Forty-four third-country national applicants were of nine different nationalities, with the highest proportion from nationals of the Russian Federation represented almost 60 per cent of the asylum applications from TCNs.
Adults represented 82 per cent of the asylum applications from TCNs in the reporting period.
Temporary protection
Between 24 February and 23 June 2022, a total of 82,799 persons requested temporary protection in Slovakia in connection with the conflict in Ukraine. Out of these, less than one per cent was from TCNs, representing 526 requests from persons of 44 different nationalities. Similarly, to asylum applications, nationals of the Russian Federation were the largest nationality group of TCNs applying for this protection.
