On 18 June, IOM Slovakia joined UNHCR, state representatives and local NGOs in Košice and Bratislava to commemorate our responsibilities and strengthen our assistance to people who were forced to flee their homes due to conflicts, persecution or natural disasters.
World Refugee Day (20 June) is a memento for much needed respect for the rights, dignity and well-being for all refugees, displaced persons and migrants.
Košice: Panel discussion proved the importance of thorough integration of refugees within local society. Hundreds of thousands of women, children and men crossed Slovak borders seeking refuge due to the war in Ukraine.
Košice: Choir Magnolia performed many beautiful songs and brought smile on visitors’ faces.
Košice: The youngest participants had fun in IOM children’s corner and with balloon figures making, tattoo station or professional hair braids making.
Bratislava: IOM stand with information on advice and services for foreigners.
Košice: Together at Umbrella parades, dozens crossed the streets in Košice and Bratislava with umbrellas that symbolize the most needed protection and safety which refugees seek all around the world.
