IOM continues providing information, counselling, and daily support to people affected by the war in Ukraine who have found a refuge in the Gabcikovo Accommodation Facility, currently hosting about 900 people.

IOM provides people in the facility with legal and social counselling focusing on prevention of labour exploitation. IOM also assists them with work-related matters such as orientation in the contracts with employers, counselling in practical matters that come up in everyday life related to contacts for institutions, doctors, schools and external courses.

IOM staff is present in the centre also to ensure interpretation for people in the premises of the facility. Apart from that, IOM organizes for them Slovak language courses, trainings for different groups including children and teenagers, events to spend their time meaningfuly and help them to cope with war stress and ensures registration of applicants for allowance for people with disabilities.
