On 26 April 2022, IOM Slovakia lecturers conducted a counter-trafficking training for 14 partners involved in provision of services at the Gabčíkovo Accommodation Facility that is currently housing over 700 people that fled war in Ukraine.

The training for professionals from the Slovak Humanitarian Council as an implementing partner of UNHCR, Fire Medical, Migration Office of the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic and facility management staff embraced:

  • Basic information about human trafficking and risks of human trafficking for people in vulnerable situations
  • How to recognize the case of human trafficking and the risk situations that may occur for their clients
  • How to help their clients avoid risks of human trafficking, especially forced labour
