Bratislava, 18 March 2022 – The Deputy Director-General for Operations of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Ugochi Daniels, will visit the Slovak Republic from 18-21 March 2022.
The Deputy Director-General will visit the border crossings in Ubla and Vysne Nemecke and the hotspot in Michalovce for people fleeing Ukraine. There she will meet with representatives of state administration, regional and local governments and non-governmental organizations operating on the Slovak-Ukrainian border.
Deputy Director-General Ugochi Daniels wants to support volunteers and workers who are providing humanitarian aid to people fleeing Ukraine to neighboring countries, to express support for refugees and to identify further opportunities to expand this aid.
In Bratislava, she will meet with Vendelín Leitner, State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic, with Ingrid Brocková, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, with Radim Dvořák, Deputy Head of the European Commission's Representation in the Slovak Republic, with Ján Orlovský, Director of the Migration Office of the Ministry of the Interior, with Robert Gucký, Director of the Bureau of Border and Foreign Police of the Presidium of the Police Force, and with representatives of the diplomatic corps in Slovakia.
