Freezing weather, snow, rain and harsh weather conditions make border crossing much harder for people fleeing the war in Ukraine. On Slovak-Ukrainian points of entries in Ubla and Vysne Nemecke, in Michalovce Registration Centre and in Hotspot Kosice, IOM Slovakia (IOM) donated winter clothes for those who need it.

IOM frontline team have been distributing socks, jackets and hats since December 2022 and to date, more than 100 pieces of winter clothing have already helped mostly to elderly people and to women with children on borders facing winter conditions. Since the outbreak of the war, IOM Slovakia has distributed more than twenty-nine thousand items of clothing in various towns in Slovakia.
