In January 2013 IOM International Organization for Migration in Bratislava will organize two trainings for employees of alien police, labor offices, district offices, legal advice centers and city councils. Trainings aim at building technical capacities of employees of these institutions in the area of work with migrants. Through capacity building, IOM seeks to support the integration of migrants in Slovakia.
IOM trainings lay emphasis on improving knowledge about various aspects of migration and integration of migrants, creating an up-to-date image about migrants living in Slovakia, deepening intercultural knowledge and communication skills, cooperation among institutions in providing services to foreigners and raising awareness about problems that foreigners face in their communication with institutions.
Capacity building will continue also in the next phase – some of the training participants will take part in workshops organized by IOM from February till May 2013 in four regions of Slovakia. As the part of these workshops will be consulting days “One-Stop-Shop“, during which the participants of trainings will provide migrants with counselling on work, stay or social security in Slovakia.
Trainings, workshops and One-Stop-Shop consulting days are all part of the project “Enhancing Intercultural Competencies and Regional Cooperation of Professionals Working with Migrants in Slovakia“.
The project is funded from the European Fund for the Integration of Third-Country Nationals. Solidarity and Management of Migration Flows.
