We cordially invite you to the evening programme of the EMN Educational Seminar on Migration that will be dedicated to the lives of refugees. At the occasion of the World Refugee Day that falls each year on 20 June, we will commemorate the courage of tens of millions of people that left their homes and families due to persecution, conflicts or human rights violations. EMN Discussion Evening: Home, Where is Yours?

17 June 2024 at 7 pm, Nová scéna Theatre, Živnostenská 1, Bratislava

The theatre play Home, Where is Yours? is based on the book “War, what if it were here?” by Danish novelist, Janne Teller. Acting Dávid Hartl a Michal Candrák. The play will be in Slovak language with paper transcript in English.

After the play, at 8.15 pm a discussion a Czech sociologist Lenka Šafránková Pavlíčková and other guests will follow. Moderator: Valon Halimi, Chief of Mission, International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Slovakia. The discussion will be held in English and interpreted to Slovak.

Screening of the film The Old Oak

18 June 2024 at 7 pm, Kino Film Europe, Štefánikova 25, Bratislava

The Old Oak is the story of a village in the Northeast of England. Many have left what was once a thriving, proud community which now struggles to keep old values alive. There is growing anger, resentment and a lack of hope, but houses are cheap and available. This makes it an ideal location for Syrian refugees. How will they be received? And what does the future hold for the last remaining pub in the village, The Old Oak?

Tickets for the fil screening:

Entry for free. The tickets can be booked online at www.kino.filmeurope.sk and picked up at the cinema at latest 15 minutes before the film screening. If online booking does not reach its capacity, remaining tickets will be available at the cinema just before the screening.

For the seminar participants, tickets will be available at the seminar venue.
