Context:
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (COM) in Bratislava, and direct supervision of Head of Unit and in collaboration with other team members, the Project Associate (Operations), will be responsible for implementation of all relevant project activities related to the programme of Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration.
Core functions / Responsibilites:
- Provides individual counselling to migrants, organizes and carries out information meetings with target group in facilities of the Ministry of Interior and in other places within the territory of the Slovak Republic;
- Carries out registration of persons interested in the assisted voluntary return program;
- In close cooperation with embassies ensures travel documents for returnees;
- Liaises with representatives of embassies;
- Organizes and coordinates routings of voluntary returns via land and air with the operations project team including field operations assistant and administration assistant;
- Prepares advance booking notification in MIMOSA and TORs in iGator and coordinates returns with respective IOM missions, timely notifies the external and internal partners of relevant
bookings, routings and cancellations; Coordinates the activities with offices responsible for transit, reception and post arrival
assistance; - Ensures provision of pre-departure information to returnees;
- Organizes and coordinates transport and accommodation of target group in host country;
- Contacts and coordinates with respective authorities at the airport to ensure smooth departure;
- Assists returnees at the airport with check in, passport control and in terminal;
- Arranges travel tickets, accommodation and medical service, if needed, for individual migrants;
- Identifies possible limitations in project implementation and informs Project manager on all operation activities;
- Performs archiving of records necessary for continuous project evaluation;
- Provides pre-departure reintegration counselling to the target group based on close cooperation with reintegration staff;
- Assists returnees with elaboration of reintegration plans;
- Continuously processes the reports from project activities and participates on the monitoring reports as appropriate.
- Act as the Fleet Focal point for the office by coordinating the distribution of vehicles, ensuring their timely maintenance, and controlling fuel consumption.
- Performs other duties assigned by Chief of Mission/Head of Unit.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
- High school diploma from an accredited academic institution with at least 7 years of relevant experience, or
- Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution
with three years of relevant professional experience.
Experience:
- • Experience with project management, development, monitoring and reporting;
• Experience with migration issues including operational or field experience;
• Knowledge of AMADEUS reservation system is an asset;
• Experience in liaising with NGO’s and IGO’s;
• Experience in working with vulnerable migrants including their identification and referral to
relevant institutions;
Languages:
Fluency in Slovak and English is required. Working knowledge of Russian is an advantage. Language skills may be tested during the selection process.
