International Migrants Day, celebrated on 18 December, highlights the contributions of migrants to society and the challenges they face. To mark the occasion, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is launching a new campaign, Together We Make Slovakia.
The campaign shares inspiring stories of migrant integration, showcasing their contributions through knowledge, skills, resilience, and diversity. It also introduces the services of the IOM Migration Information Centre (MIC), which has been helping migrants succeed in Slovakia since 2006 as part of the Project to Support Labour Mobility and Integration of Migrants.
The stories will be featured on IOM Slovakia’s Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn accounts throughout the week, emphasizing how migration enriches society and creates opportunities for the future.
Since 2022, the MIC has provided legal, employment, and educational support to over 8,000 migrants under Slovakia’s Recovery and Resilience Plan, funded by the EU's NextGenerationEU initiative. These efforts earned second place in the IOM Knowledge Impact Awards for improving pathways to regular migration.
