IOM released a displacement analysis of third-country nationals (TCNs) arriving from Ukraine to Slovakia and those who exiting the country towards Ukraine. A pilot report published in Slovakia for the period of 24 February – 25 April 2022 highlighted that more than 60 percent of the entries of TCNs from Ukraine to Slovakia occurred before 10 March, with a peak of entries (8,391) between 27 February and 2 March 2022.

Top findings of the report
Entries from Ukraine to Slovakia
Between 24 February and 24 April 2022, a total of 360,498 people entered Slovakia from Ukraine. Out of them, 23,027 were TCNs of 148 different nationalities, in addition to 332,587 Ukrainian and 4,884 Slovak nationals.
The top 10 nationalities by number of entries of TCNs in Slovakia so far were Hungary (16 % of the total number of TCNs), Morocco (11 %), Czechia (10 %), India (6 %), Germany (5 %), Nigeria (5 %), Russian Federation (5 %), Poland (3 %), China (2 %) and Libya (2 %).
Approximately half of the individuals who entered Slovakia were adult women (178,371), followed by 35 percent of children (63,459 girls and 63,154 boys) and 15 percent of men (55,514).
Exits from Slovakia to Ukraine
Similarly, Ukrainian refugees represent 86 per cent of all individuals (93,470) registered while leaving Slovakia towards Ukraine during the reporting period, with 10,483 TCNs of 90 different nationalities and 4 per cent of Slovak nationals (4,852) recorded leaving towards Ukraine.
Asylum Applications
As of 24 April 2022, Slovakia received a total of 176 asylum applications in connection with the conflict in Ukraine. Out of these, the vast majority were from Ukrainian nationals (142 asylum applications, or 81 per cent) and 19 per cent or 34 asylum applications from TCNs from persons of seven different nationalities, with the highest proportion of asylum applications from nationals of the Russian Federation represented almost 60 per cent of the asylum applications from TCNs.
