“International Migrants Day this year falls almost exactly 70 years after the Brussels conference that lead to the establishment of the International Organization for Migration.

IOM Migration Information Centre (MIC) prepared a new guide Ahoj! Hello, Welcome to Slovakia (2021) for non-EU nationals younger than 18 years old being in Slovakia without parents or any other adult relatives. Information is available in brochure and leaflet form in 7 various languages.

Geneva – The International Organization for Migration (IOM) today launched its flagship World Migration Report 2022 which reveals a dramatic increase in internal displacement due to disasters, conflict and violence at a time when global mobility ground to a halt due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

On 25 October 2021, on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations (UN), the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic (MFEA SR) presented a Gold Plaque to Zuzana Vatráľová, Head of the Office of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Slovakia.

In the series of podcasts We Are Also At Home Here (Aj my sme tu doma) you will get to know several countries of the world through interviews with people who were born there and later decided to live in Slovakia. In addition, podcasts can be used, for example, in the education of high school students.

The trainings’ participants appreciated receiving new information about human trafficking and practical knowledge they can immediately use in their work. Many of them assessed as very useful the opportunity to exchange experience and learn what is responsible shopping and how it is linked to human trafficking.

How the pandemics influenced migration, what are the multilateral solutions to migration, what is the life like in refugee camps in Greece, how does the migration situation in Afghanistan look like and what are the possibilities of legal migration and work mobility into the EU?

IOM Slovakia has updated and enhanced the training manual Prevention of Human Trafficking. The manual serves as a useful tool for professionals working with young people who would like to inform or educate them about how not to become a victim of human trafficking.

A brief instruction manual introduces the mobile application SAFE Travel & Work Abroad and offers tips for the professionals working in education of young people on how to use the application in their activities related to prevention of human trafficking and on how to inform the young people about safe travel principles.
