Every migrant who returns from Slovakia to a country of origin through Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration Programme (AVRR) and needs to be provided basic living needs, housing or a source of living income for himself and his family, can request IOM Slovakia for reintegration assistance.

Annual Report on Migration and Asylum Policies in the Slovak Republic in 2016

The European Migration Network Report provides information on development in legislation and policies in the field of migration and asylum, legal migration and mobility, international protection including asylum, unaccompanied minors and other vulnerable groups as well as irregular migration and smuggling in the Slovak Republic in 2016. It analyses the measures in countering human trafficking, migration and its impact on the development of countries and returns of third country nationals. Part of the report is a statistical overview of legal and irregular migration as well as unaccompanied minors.

Check if You Need a Visa to Visit the Slovak Republic

The IOM Migration Information Center (IOM) launched a new on-line application VISA CHECK for foreigners from various countries of the world wishing to come to Slovakia. The application is designed to quickly check if you need a visa to enter the Slovak Republic. The application also enables you to determine what type of residence permit you need in order to study, work or do business in Slovakia.

During the first three months since its launch, the application has processed almost 400 requests for information from 75 countries.

The IOM Migration Information Center (MIC) has prepared a series of events called Welcoming Slovakia. Their goal is to provide practical and useful information for foreigners living in Slovakia. Former Manager of a Refugee Camp Took Part in a Public Discussion in Bratislava

The EMN Discussion Evening Refugee Camp – My Home hosted an interesting guest - Kilian Kleinschmidt who during 2013 – 2014 managed Za'atari refugee camp under UNHCR in Jordan. During the event on 4 July 2017 in kino Lumière in Bratislava, he introduced his innovative ideas, inter alia, that we should start thinking about refugee camps as about future cities.

17 Experts, Three Days, Two Film Screenings and an Evening Discussion: EMN Educational Seminar on Forced Migration

The EMN Educational Seminar on Migration dealt with the topic Addressing the Needs of Forced Migrants in the 21st Century. During 3 to 5 July 2017, more than 60 participants had the opportunity to listen to and discuss with 17 experts from international organisations, institutions and non-governmental organisations.

Results of IOM Activities for the First Half of 2017

IOM provided advice to 1,607 clients and services to other foreigners in their integration into Slovakia, assisted 26 migrants with returning home from Slovakia, arranged the preparation and transfer of 40 refugees during their resettlement through Slovakia to the US and Sweden and held a conference and other activities as the coordinator of activities of the European Migration Network (EMN) in Slovakia.

Apply for a Financial Contribution for Educational Course

The IOM Migration Information Center (MIC) offers to foreigners a financial contribution for their further education or retraining. The service is available for foreigners from countries outside the EU/EEA who came to live, work or do business in Slovakia. The selected course should help them find a job or improve their business.

EMN Study: Changes in Immigration Status in the Slovak Republic

The European Migration Network (EMN) study Changes in Immigration Status in the Slovak Republic deals with a legal framework regulating possibilities for changes of immigration status of third-country nationals while staying in the territory of the Slovak Republic. Furthermore, you can find here the scope of rights which the applicants acquire during changes of their status in comparison to previous applications.

This study has been compiled by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Slovakia which is the coordinator of the National Contact Point of the European Migration Network (EMN) for the Slovak Republic (SR).

IOM the Netherlands has launched a European digital platform www.FromSkills2Work.eu to help employers, migrants and helping organisations improve labour market access of residence permit holders in the Netherlands, Slovakia and other seven EU member states: Belgium, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Slovenia, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
